From time to time, applicants may question a record in their consumer report. Usually, the applicant will contact you directly to dispute the record. Instead of attempting to investigate the issue, instruct the applicant to call Scott-Roberts and Associates directly at 888-605-4265.
All consumer disputes should be taken seriously. Scott-Roberts will document the dispute, facilitate the investigation, and notify both you (our client) and the applicant of the investigation results. If the applicant disputes a record based upon a pre-adverse action letter, keep in mind that your company should not make a hiring decision until the investigation is complete. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows up to 30 days from receipt to conduct an investigation into the dispute.
